Clachamish

Scotland

Scotland

Clachamish occupies a quiet corner of northwest Skye, surrounded by moorland and accessible via local roads branching from the A856. Most visitors arrive from Portree, about 20 kilometres southeast, or follow the main A87 route from the Skye Bridge through Dunvegan. The settlement sits amongst several small Highland communities connected by narrow roads that wind through typical Hebridean terrain. The name derives from Gaelic "Clach a' Mhisich," meaning "stone of the swamp."
