Cheekpoint is a small coastal village on Waterford Harbour's eastern shore, where the River Suir meets the sea. It's 12 kilometers southeast of Waterford city via the R683, with grand views across to the Hook Peninsula. Most visitors come off the N25, taking the Passage East exit and following local roads through the countryside. The village sits along Ireland's Ancient East route, making it handy for exploring the region. Cheekpoint's working lighthouse has been guiding ships into Waterford Harbour since 1865 and still operates today for commercial vessels using the port.
