Chaulden occupies elevated ground in the Chiltern Hills just outside Hemel Hempstead, with the M25 accessible via the A414 to the southeast. The A4146 and B486 handle local traffic to surrounding towns, whilst the nearby A41 provides connections to Watford and the M1. The area's most distinctive characteristic is its location alongside the Grand Union Canal, where historic locks mark the waterway's passage through the Gade Valley.
