Cessnock forms part of Glasgow's south side, sitting along the Clyde about 2km from the city centre. The M8 provides quick access to central Glasgow and onward routes, whilst the A728 Paisley Road West runs directly through the area. Most journeys involve local Glasgow routes or the M77 south toward East Kilbride. The area is notable for housing one of Glasgow's original 1896 Underground stations on the circular subway line.
