Caulside lies along the A7 in the Scottish Borders, just north of the English border near Hadrian's Wall country. The A7 trunk road provides the main access, running between Carlisle and Edinburgh, whilst the B6357 heads east towards Newcastleton. Around a dozen fast EV charging points serve the area. The village sits close to Castlesteads Roman fort, where excavations have revealed a remarkably well-preserved Roman bath house.
