Catterick sits just off Junction 51 of the A1(M) in North Yorkshire, making it a convenient stop between major cities and gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The A6136 leads directly into town from the motorway, whilst the A684 heads west into Wensleydale. Popular with long-distance travellers on the London-Edinburgh route and day visitors exploring the Dales. The town houses Catterick Garrison, one of Britain's largest military training areas spanning over 2,400 hectares.
