Catacol lies on Arran's western shore, reached via the A841 from Brodick ferry terminal. The 20-kilometer coastal drive takes about 30 minutes and forms part of the popular island circuit route. Atlantic weather brings frequent rain and strong winds to this exposed coastline. The village features the iconic white Victorian Catacol Bay Hotel, built in 1895 and still a prominent landmark today.
