Castlepollard

Ireland

Ireland

Castlepollard is a handy market town in County Westmeath that makes a grand stopping point between Dublin and the northwest. Most folk arrive off the N4 via Mullingar on the R394, though you can also reach it from Granard or Oldcastle on smaller roads. The town sits in proper midlands farming country and serves as a useful charging stop for electric cars with about 11 fast chargers scattered about. The big draw here is Tullynally Castle, one of Ireland's largest castles that's still lived in by the Pakenham family after 350 years, with lovely gardens you can visit.
