Castlelyons

united kingdom

Castlelyons is a small County Cork village positioned along the R626, about 30 kilometres northeast of Cork city. The easiest route from Cork follows the N8 north before turning off at Rathcormac, while Dublin drivers take the M8 south for roughly 200 kilometres to the same junction. Local traffic often arrives from nearby Fermoy (12 kilometres) or Mitchelstown (18 kilometres) via connecting rural roads. Electric vehicle drivers will find around 10 fast chargers scattered through the area, mainly in Fermoy and along the N8 corridor. The village takes its name from the impressive 13th-century Norman castle ruins that still dominate the hilltop above the settlement.
