Castlefin lies in County Meath, about 45 kilometres north of Dublin via the M1 to Junction 7, then west on the R152. The town serves as a handy base for families visiting Tayto Park, Ireland's biggest theme park, and the ancient monuments at Brú na Bóinne. Golf fans make for Knightsbrook Golf Course, while day trippers from Belfast find it an easy 90-kilometre drive south. The name comes from "Caisleán Finn" or "white castle," though the original fortress has long since vanished.
