Castlefield lies just southwest of Manchester city centre, where the Rochdale and Bridgewater canals converge amid converted warehouses and Roman ruins. Access is straightforward via the M602 from the M60, or locally through Deansgate and Liverpool Road. The reconstructed Roman fort of Mamucium marks the exact spot where Manchester began nearly 2,000 years ago.
