Carterway Heads is a moorland village in County Durham, reached via the B6278 from Shotley Bridge or the A692 from Consett. It's popular with walkers heading to the Pennines and serves as a stopping point between Newcastle and the Yorkshire Dales. The Manor House Inn operates from a converted 17th-century manor and brews its own ales named after local landmarks.
