Carrick Shore is a small coastal spot in Dumfries and Galloway where granite was once shipped out via a stone jetty. Reach it via the A75 and A711 from Dumfries (about an hour), or take scenic back roads from nearby Gatehouse of Fleet. The old jetty, built for loading massive granite blocks onto ships bound for Victorian construction projects, still juts into the Solway Firth.
