Caldbeck is a Lake District village 15 miles from Carlisle, reached via the A595 or B5299 from Keswick through lovely Cumbrian countryside. The northern fells provide excellent walking with fewer crowds than central Lakeland. John Peel, the famous huntsman from the traditional song, is buried in the village churchyard.
