Burneston is a small North Yorkshire village positioned between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, easily reached via the A684 from Bedale or local roads from Leeming Bar on the A1(M). The area serves as a useful base for exploring nearby market towns like Bedale, whilst the A684 provides direct access to the Yorkshire Dales or connections eastward to Northallerton. The village's Norman church of St. Lambert features a remarkable 12th-century carved tympanum above its south door.
