Burnedge lies in Greater Manchester's former mill country, positioned on elevated ground between Oldham and Rochdale where Victorian terraces meet open moorland. The A663 from Manchester provides the main approach, whilst the A669 offers an alternative route from Rochdale through the old industrial valleys. Local traffic often cuts through between these major roads to avoid town centre congestion, and the area boasts over 250 EV charging points nearby. Sections of the old Hollinwood Branch Canal towpath still wind through the community as footpaths.
