Bruichladdich sits on Islay's western shore, reached by ferry from Kennacraig to Port Ellen or Port Askaig, then the A846 island road. The village lies about 20km north of Port Ellen through Bowmore, with local routes to Port Charlotte and various distilleries. Islay Airport is 10km southeast with Glasgow flights. The centrepiece is Bruichladdich Distillery, established in 1881 and claiming to be Scotland's westernmost distillery.
