Brignall is a small Yorkshire Dales village near the River Greta, reached via the A66 and B6277 through Barnard Castle. Popular with walkers exploring Teesdale, it sits about an hour from Newcastle and two hours from Leeds or Manchester. The 12th-century St. Peter's Church houses remarkable medieval wall paintings discovered in the 1960s.
