Bragar

united kingdom

Bragar is a small village on Lewis's west coast, reached via the A858 from Stornoway about 20km southeast. The road connects several traditional crofting communities along this stretch of the Outer Hebrides. Most visitors pass through whilst exploring the island's Atlantic coast or heading to northern attractions like the Butt of Lewis. The village is known for its distinctive whale bone arch beside the main road, fashioned from a blue whale's jawbone that washed ashore in 1920.
