Bowmore is Islay's main town, sitting on Loch Indaal's eastern shore and home to a renowned whisky distillery. Getting there means ferrying from Kennacraig to Port Ellen or Port Askaig, then taking the A846 across the island. The town has about 2 fast EV chargers and connects to other island communities via single-track roads. Its most distinctive feature is the circular church from 1767, built without corners to deny the devil any hiding places.
