Botesdale straddles the Suffolk-Norfolk border along the A143, forming a continuous settlement with Rickinghall. Most visitors arrive from the A14 via Stowmarket and the A1120, or from Norwich via Diss. The village features an unusual diamond-shaped street layout around a central green.
