Boom Hall lies on Derry's eastern edge along the River Foyle, easily reached via the A2 from the city centre or M2 from Belfast. The area offers good access to both sides of the border, with County Donegal just across the Foyle Bridge. City of Derry Airport sits nearby for flights to Britain. The district takes its name from the defensive boom stretched across the river during the famous 1688-89 siege.
