Boltongate is a small Cumbrian village in the northern Lake District, reached via the B5299 between Wigton and Cockermouth. Day-trippers often arrive from Carlisle, whilst longer routes connect through the A66 from the M6 at Junction 40. The surrounding farmland offers a gentler alternative to the central Lakes' dramatic peaks. St. Michael's Church houses a rare medieval wall painting of St. Christopher.
