Blackden Heath lies in rural Cheshire between Goostrey and the famous Jodrell Bank radio telescope. Access is via the A34 from Manchester or M6 Junction 18 from the south, then local roads through Holmes Chapel. The name derives from Old English meaning "black valley," referring to the distinctive dark, peaty soil found throughout this part of Cheshire.
