Birse lies in Royal Deeside, about 45 kilometers west of Aberdeen via the A93. This small Aberdeenshire community sits among pine forests and moorland along the River Dee. The scenic Deeside road connects it to Aberdeen in an hour, whilst southern routes use the A957 Slug Road. Local roads serve nearby Glen Tanar and Finzean, with approximately seven EV charging points across the wider area. The 16th-century Birse Castle ruins still overlook the village from their commanding hilltop position.
