Berth-ddu lies in Flintshire's countryside between the Clwydian Range and Dee Estuary, connected via the A55 and local B-roads to Halkyn and Mold. Long-distance travellers use the A55 for Chester and North Wales routes, whilst locals take the A5119 and B5123 for daily commutes. The village name means "black berth," referring to distinctive dark limestone outcrops in the area.
