Berden is a small Essex village near the Hertfordshire border, reached via the B1038 from the A120/M11 junction at Bishop's Stortford. St. Nicholas Church houses exceptional 14th-century wall paintings of St. Nicholas, discovered in the 1960s and regarded as some of Essex's finest medieval church art.
