Belle Vale occupies Liverpool's southeastern suburbs, sandwiched between Gateacre and Woolton about 8 kilometres from the city centre. The A562 Speke Road provides the main route into Liverpool, whilst the M62 at Junction 5 connects to the wider motorway network. Liverpool John Lennon Airport lies 6 kilometres southwest via the A561. The area centres around Belle Vale Shopping Centre, opened in 1974 as one of Liverpool's first purpose-built suburban retail complexes.
