Bellanagare lies along the N5 between Dublin and Westport in County Roscommon, about 15 kilometres from Castlerea and 25 kilometres from Strokestown. The village sits at a handy junction with local roads connecting to Frenchpark and Tulsk, making it a proper crossroads for the area. The N5 gives you direct access from Dublin, roughly 150 kilometres away, and continues west toward Mayo's coast. The countryside around here is classic Roscommon drumlin country with rolling hills and good farmland. The highlight is the ruins of Bellanagare Abbey, a 12th-century Augustinian monastery that's well worth a quick stop to appreciate the medieval stonework.
