Baltinglass

united kingdom

united kingdom

Baltinglass sits along the N81 about 60 kilometres southwest of Dublin, making it a handy stop between the capital and Carlow. The main route from Cork or Limerick runs via the M7 to Naas, then south through the Wicklow Mountains. Local roads like the R747 and R725 connect to Dunlavin and the surrounding countryside. The town has over 30 fast EV charging points, which is grand for electric cars. The ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey from 1148 still stand beside the Slaney River near the centre, with impressive stone walls that have lasted nearly 900 years.
