Balmacara sits on Loch Alsh's shores in the western Highlands, five kilometres from Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge. Reach it via the A87 from Inverness or through Glen Shiel from the south. The village offers a quieter base than Kyle whilst remaining perfectly placed for Skye day trips. The National Trust's Balmacara Estate features a lovely walled garden growing heritage vegetables using traditional methods.
