Ballyporeen

Ireland

Ireland

Ballyporeen is a small village in County Tipperary's Golden Vale, sitting on the R665 between Mitchelstown and Cahir. You'll find it about 8 kilometers west of Mitchelstown if coming from Cork via the N8, or 15 kilometers southeast of Cahir. The village sits in prime dairy farming country with the Galtee and Knockmealdown Mountains providing a fine backdrop. Ballyporeen is famous as the ancestral home of Ronald Reagan, whose great-grandfather left here in the 1860s, and there's a small visitor center dedicated to this presidential connection.
