Ballymacward is a quiet village in County Galway along the R446 between Ballinasloe and Mountbellew. Most people reach it via Junction 15 off the M6, then 8 kilometers north on the R446. It's about 90 minutes from Dublin and 45 kilometers east of Galway city. The village sits in proper farming country with well-kept pastures and small farms typical of east Galway. St. Brendan's Church, a stone building, marks the village center where the R446 bends through the settlement.
