Ballyhaunis

Ireland

Ireland

Ballyhaunis is a market town in County Mayo, positioned on the N60 about 30 kilometers northeast of Knock and 50 kilometers from Castlebar. The main routes in are the M6 from Dublin via Athlone and Roscommon, or the N17 from Galway through Tuam. The N60 connects the town east to Roscommon and west toward Knock and Claremorris, with county roads serving the surrounding agricultural areas and villages like Bekan and Kiltimagh. Ireland West Airport Knock is just southwest of town. Ballyhaunis is famous for hosting one of Ireland's largest livestock marts, where cattle auctions draw farmers from across Connacht every Tuesday.
