Ballitore is a quiet village in County Kildare, about 50 kilometres southwest of Dublin and easily reached via the M9 motorway and R448. The drive from Dublin takes just over an hour, making it grand for a day trip. You'll find yourself in proper horse country here, with championship golf courses at Rathsallagh and the Curragh nearby, plus Kildare Outlet Village for a bit of shopping. The village has a fascinating Quaker heritage, founded by Quakers in 1683 and home to Ireland's first Quaker school where Edmund Burke himself was educated.
