Ballina sprawls along the River Moy in north Mayo, County Mayo's largest town with over 10,000 folk. It's perfectly placed near Killala Bay where the famous salmon river meets the Atlantic. The N26 runs straight through to Dublin via the N5, a fair trek of 240 kilometers, while the N59 heads north to Sligo and the R314 cuts inland to Castlebar. You'll find about 16 fast chargers scattered about for electric cars. The town makes a grand base for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, especially the Céide Fields and Downpatrick Head. The Moy's legendary for its salmon fishing, with the season running February to September.
