Back is a small community on Lewis's eastern coast, about 20 minutes' drive northeast of Stornoway via the A857. It's part of a cluster of Gaelic-speaking villages connected by local roads branching off the main island route. The area serves as a gateway to the Ness district, with its landscape of peat moorland and coastal lochs typical of the Outer Hebrides.
