Auldgirth lies just off the A76, 2km north of Dumfries in the Nith Valley. The village serves commuters heading into Dumfries and sits on the main route between central Scotland and Galloway. Electric vehicle charging is readily available in nearby Dumfries. The striking red sandstone railway viaduct carrying the Glasgow-Stranraer line remains the village's most recognisable landmark.
