united kingdom

Aughertree is a small Cumbrian village in the northern Lake District, reached via the A595 from either Carlisle or Cockermouth. The settlement sits amongst rolling fells with views towards the Solway Firth, connected by minor roads to neighbouring villages like Ireby and Uldale. Its 12th-century church contains rare medieval wall paintings of Saint Kentigern, who allegedly preached here in the 6th century.
