Auckingill is a small Highland village near Scotland's northeastern tip, about 20 kilometres south of John o' Groats. Most visitors arrive via the A99 coastal road from Wick, a pleasant 15-minute drive through moorland. The settlement serves as a base for exploring the dramatic Caithness coastline and its prehistoric sites, including nearby Iron Age roundhouse remains at Nybster.
