Athboy is a handy market town in County Meath, about 65 kilometres northwest of Dublin and roughly an hour's drive via the M3 and R154. It sits where several regional roads meet, making it a proper base for exploring the Ancient East. The N52 connects it west to Mullingar, while local routes lead south to Trim and north toward Virginia. The town's most striking feature is the Yellow Steeple, a 15th-century tower from a medieval abbey that gives Athboy its Irish name, Baile Átha Buí. There are about 20 EV charging stations in the area, and championship golf courses at Headfort and Knightsbrook are nearby.
