Ashdon is a rural Essex village near the Cambridgeshire border, reached via the B1052 and country lanes from Saffron Walden or Cambridge. The A11 and M11 provide long-distance access through winding B-roads typical of this corner of East Anglia. All Saints Church houses an exceptional medieval wall painting of the Crucifixion, discovered during restoration and regarded as one of the finest surviving examples in the region.
