Ascog is a small village on Bute's east coast, reached by ferry from Wemyss Bay then a short drive on the A844. The island's mild maritime climate and sheltered position in the Firth of Clyde make it popular with day-trippers from Glasgow. Mount Stuart House nearby features some of Britain's finest Gothic Revival architecture.
