Akroydon is a former mill village on the outskirts of Halifax in West Yorkshire's Calder Valley. Reach it via the A629 from Halifax centre (3km) or from the M62 Junction 24. The village sits on elevated ground above the valley floor and retains its original Victorian terraced housing with characteristic Yorkshire mullioned windows built for 19th-century mill workers.
