Affane is a quiet riverside spot in County Waterford, about 15 kilometres northwest of Cappoquin along the River Blackwater. You'll reach it via the R669 from Cappoquin, or it's roughly 45 minutes from Waterford city through Dungarvan on the N25. Cork is about an hour west on the N72. The narrow country roads need a bit of care when wet. The main draw here is Blackwater Distillery, which makes proper Irish whiskey using traditional methods and represents the craft distilling revival happening across rural Ireland.
