Acaster Malbis lies 6km south of York along the River Ouse, accessible via the A64 and B1222 through Bishopthorpe. Most visitors arrive on day trips from York or whilst exploring the Ouse valley villages. The settlement features St. John the Baptist Church, renowned for its 14th-century wall paintings discovered during 1930s restoration work.
