Abbeystead lies deep in the Forest of Bowland, reached via country lanes from the A6 near Lancaster or longer routes across the Pennines from Yorkshire. This remote Lancashire village draws walkers and countryside enthusiasts to its valley setting amongst the fells. The area has approximately 40 EV charging points scattered across the broader region. Abbeystead remains known for the 1984 gas explosion at its water valve house, which tragically killed 16 people during a public demonstration.
